About Me

When Dean died in January 2012, after a 3 year struggle with cancer,  I felt  like I had lost the best part of me. The first year was tough for me because I had to figure out how to survive on my own. But the second year was far worse than the first. I was sad, depressed, lost and cried all the time. I needed help but had no idea what to do, where to go, or who to talk to.

Several loving friends suggested that I become a grief counselor because they said I would be good at relating to others who had suffered loss.  So I started checking out different programs and found The Grief Recovery Method program. I learned that grief recovery is totally different than grief counseling or grief share where you talk about your losses but don't really come up with a lasting solution to the pain.

After taking the class to become a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and working on my own losses - especially the loss of Dean -  I felt like a different person with the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders.  I still have all the wonderful memories of Dean but the pain and sadness are gone and my joy has been restored.

I have become so passionate about helping others to find the same completion that I found because there are too many wounded people walking around in a fog.  Their life can seem unbearable at times but I now know there is hope and a future for them.

The Grief Recovery Method helps grievers take action steps to work through their grief to recovery.   Instead of letting circumstances control us we now have an opportunity to take control of our circumstances and our life.  People often say "I know how you feel" but they really don't.  I know how I felt when Dean died and I can empathize with others but I can never walk in their shoes.

My desire is to reach out to hurting people and show them there is a solution to their grief.  I would be honored to take the grief recovery journey with you, to show you there is completion to your loss and pain and to celebrate with you when you reach the finish line.

Certified Grief Recovery Specialists®

From 2002 to 2012 I experienced deep grief and the great personal loss of my sister, my brother, my father, several close friends, my wonderful, faithful dog Tony and my husband and best friend Dean.  I was then left as the sole caregiver for my aging mother who had dementia. For 5 years I watched her become a mother who was totally different from the one who had raised me.  She died in 2016 at the age of 98.
